Scruffy
Little did I know when this scruffy looking dog showed up on my doorstep that I would eventually form a bond with him that was difficult to break.

I'd like to present here a selection of photographs and memories in remembrance of another of my best friends... Scruffy.

Scruffy came to us one July day, presumably abondoned by his owner or somehow separated. Since it was nearly the 4th of July, I suspect he was frieghtened away by fireworks.

I tried for weeks to find his owner but eventually he became part of our family and friend to Trooper. His name was given to him because of how he looked... Scruffy.

He was at first rather skittish about me, leading me to believe he was either ignored by his previous owner or abused somehow. Later in his life, he seemed to almost "beg" for attention and seemed so appreciative when he would get it.

Scruffy was an easy dog to love because he was so gentle and seemed to welcome any affection poured out on him.

Scruffy
Like Trooper, Scruffy loved people and enjoyed welcoming everyone to our home. Rarely did he ever bark at anyone and only wanted their attention to rub his head or scratch him.

At times, I feel guilty about not giving him more attention. While Trooper was alive, most of my attention was directed at him while Scruffy only got my second-hand attention... and as always he was so happy when he was played with.

When Trooper died in 2003, Scruffy and I began to bond more than ever.
