How To Help Someone in Crisis Pregnancy

  1. Be a friend. Be concerned. LISTEN. Ask if any plans have been made. Ask about your friend's support network: family, friends, baby's father. Is anyone pressuring her to have an abortion?
  2. Visual aids save lives. Ask if she is willing to watch an educational video. Go with her to show a video to her family and friends. Never assume mother and baby are safe.
  3. Help her schedule an appointment with a crisis pregnancy center. Check the Yellow Pages under "Abortion Alternatives," or call 1-800-848-5683 for the nearest center. Phone ahead. Go with her.
  4. Offer to stay with her during the crisis counseling appointment. Maintain regular contact and support throughout and beyond her pregnancy.
  5. Offer to take her to church with you or include her in a Bible study. Regularly pray for her. Be attentive to her spiritual and physical needs.
